You can delete your Finto account and ask us to remove the data we hold about you at any time. This page explains how to do it, what happens after you ask, and how long it takes.
1. If you have a Finto account (app.finto.fun)
The in-app path is the fastest:
- Sign in at app.finto.fun.
- Open Settings → Danger zone.
- Tap Request deletion and confirm.
When you confirm, your account is immediately marked for deletion. The app stops showing your active sessions, group admins see you as scheduled for removal, and we stop sending you non-transactional email.
2. If you prefer to email us
Email privacy@finto.fun from
the address you signed up with (or, if you can’t, include
enough information for us to verify you). A subject line like
Account deletion request helps us route it quickly.
We acknowledge requests within a few working days.
3. If you’re only on the waitlist
You don’t have a Finto account yet — only an entry on the pre-launch waitlist. Email privacy@finto.fun from the address you signed up with and ask us to remove your waitlist entry. We confirm by reply when it’s done.
4. What gets deleted
Deletion covers:
- Your account record (email, username, display name, birth year, terms-acceptance audit fields, email preferences).
- Your Firebase Authentication identity.
- Your group memberships and the attribution fields tied to them.
- Your predictions.
- Plaintext invite records that contain your email, where Finto controls them. (Some invite records are admin-readable and tied to the inviting group; those are pruned on their own 90-day clock.)
What we may retain, and why:
- A minimum email-suppression record (keyed by a hash of your email) so we keep honouring an unsubscribe or deletion even after the account is removed.
- Audit fields on group records that are not personal (for example: that a group existed, when it was created), so groups your former teammates still belong to don’t break.
- Short-term backups and operational logs from our hosting providers, which fall off on their standard retention windows.
5. How long it takes
We aim to complete deletion within 30 days of the confirmed request, in line with applicable data-protection law. We will email you when it is done if you can be reached at the address we delete.
Honest status note: the in-app Request deletion button marks your account for deletion immediately and triggers our deletion workflow. A fully automated background worker that hard-deletes every related record on its own is still in development. Until that worker ships, the team combines automated marking with a manual cleanup pass to finish deletions within the 30-day window. We will update this page when the automated worker is live.
6. Changing your mind
If you change your mind before the 30-day window closes, email privacy@finto.fun from the same address. If we’ve already completed deletion we can’t recover the data; you would need to create a new account.
7. Related rights
Deletion is one of several rights. You can also ask us to confirm what we hold about you (right of access), send you a copy, correct anything wrong, restrict or object to processing, and where applicable port your data.
