These are the rules we plan to ship at launch. They describe a social prediction game — not betting, not fantasy, not gambling. Finto is being built; rules can change before public launch and will be finalised here on launch day. The current pre-launch site only collects waitlist signups; gameplay is not available yet.
1. What Finto is
Finto is a free game where you predict the exact score of every World Cup 2026 match and compare results against your friends, your office, or every other Finto player worldwide. There are no entry fees, no prize pools, no payouts, no odds, and no wagering of any kind — pre-launch or at launch.
2. One prediction per user per match
Every player gets one prediction per match. The same prediction counts globally (on the worldwide leaderboard) and inside every private and public group you belong to — you don’t have to enter the same prediction multiple times.
3. Lock deadline
Predictions lock 15 minutes before kick-off. After lock, no one can edit or submit a prediction for that match — including the Finto team. The lock deadline is enforced server-side; a wrong device clock cannot bypass it.
4. The reveal
Until lock, predictions are hidden — even from other members of your group. The moment lock closes, all predictions in your group become visible to that group’s members. This is the point of the game: the curtain drops together.
5. Scoring
- 3 points — you predicted the exact score.
- 1 point — you predicted the correct outcome (home win / draw / away win) but not the exact score.
- 0 points — wrong outcome.
Same scoring everywhere. There are no bonus rounds, no multipliers, no “double down” mechanics — in MVP. We may add optional bonus mechanics in the future; if we do, they will be clearly labelled.
6. 90-minute regular time only
For MVP, scoring uses the regular-time (90-minute) result for every match, including knockout matches that go to extra time or penalties. The submission UI will show this clearly. This rule keeps scoring fair across group-stage and knockout matches and matches what most football statistics providers report.
7. Groups
You can play solo on the global leaderboard or create / join private groups. A private group is invite-link only — only members see member lists, predictions (after lock), and group chat. You can belong to as many groups as you like.
A group admin can opt the group in to the Public groups leaderboard. Public groups expose only:
- Group name
- Active participant count
- Group’s average points
- Admin username
Public group status never exposes member lists, individual predictions, or group chat. The admin can revert the group to private at any time.
8. Match comments
A match-day comment thread opens for every match, scoped to your group, after lock closes. Members of the group can comment; non-members never see the thread — even if the group is public. The reveal moment is what the comments react to; comments are intentionally not available before lock.
9. Fair play
You agree to play fair. Specifically:
- One Finto account per person. No alts to game leaderboards.
- Don’t share your account or password.
- Don’t use bots, scripts, or scraping to interact with the game.
- Don’t coordinate predictions with other accounts to manipulate group standings (a small group of friends agreeing on a prediction is fine; coordinated rings are not).
- Be respectful in match comments. We don’t pre-moderate, but we will remove abusive content and revoke accounts that harass others.
Suspected bad-faith play is investigated by the Finto team. We reserve the right to void points, remove accounts from groups, and suspend accounts for violations.
10. Voided matches
If a match is abandoned and not replayed, predictions for that match are voided — no points awarded — and the match is excluded from leaderboard tie-breakers.
11. Independence
Finto is an independent prediction game and is not affiliated with FIFA, the FIFA World Cup, any national football association, club, league, broadcaster, or governing body. References to the World Cup are nominal.
12. No money, no betting, no prizes
To be very clear: Finto is not a betting platform. No money changes hands. No prizes are awarded based on Finto game outcomes. There are no “real money” pools, secondary markets, or integrations with third-party betting operators. If you discover anyone claiming otherwise on Finto, please email hello@finto.fun.
13. Rules can change
We will finalise these rules before public launch and lock them for the duration of the World Cup 2026 competition. Material changes after launch will be announced in-app and on this page with at least 7 days’ notice. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
