Inviting friends

Last reviewed:

Three ways to get someone into your group. They all lead to the same place; pick what suits the conversation.

Share link

One link that auto-joins anyone who taps it (for private groups) or drops them on the request flow (for public groups). Best when you're sharing into a chat your group already trusts.

  • Generated when you create the group.
  • An admin can rotate the link at any time. Old links stop working.
  • An admin can revoke the link entirely. Members can still see the group; new joiners can't get in until the admin rotates a fresh one.

Short code

A 6-character code that's easier to read out loud or paste into a Slack channel — e.g. 9K2MFC. Same effect as the share link.

  • Globally unique. Each group's code is its own.
  • An admin can rotate the code independently of the share link.

Email invite

Admins can send a one-time invite to a specific email address. Best when you want to send to a single named person and don't have a chat to share the link in.

  • The recipient gets an email from Finto with a personal join link.
  • The link includes a tracking id that ties the invite back to the row in your "Invited" tab, so you can see who hasn't accepted yet.

"This invite is no longer active"

If the share link or code stops working, one of these is the reason:

  • The admin rotated the link or code. Ask them for the fresh one.
  • The admin revoked the link entirely. Ask them to rotate a new one.
  • The group is full. Some groups cap their squad size during the closed beta.

"This group is full"

The group has hit its squad limit. Ask the admin to bump the cap (if they can) or to remove someone inactive.

Already a member

If you tap an invite for a group you're already in, you'll land back on the group's home tab.
